Brunei $60 stamp 2006

The $60 stamp in this miniature sheet is the second highest face value stamp of all Brunei stamps produced so far. The highest value is a $65 miniature sheet. However from the physical aspect, the size of this $60 stamp makes it the largest size stamp produced among the Brunei series and probably would be able to hold its own in the world as well.

It is very interesting the way the Brunei Post Office issues expensive miniature sheets whose face value matches the number of years being celebrated for the particular anniversary featured. I hope that there are not any important 200th anniversaries coming up - $200 is a lot to pay for a new stamp! Do you know if brunei will issue or has issued a set to mark the 30th anniversary of independence?

No... No 200 years anniversary fortunately... The 30 year anniversary of the National Day will see another high value miniature sheet of $30 to be issued on 23 February 2014.

It is interesting that the Brunei Postal Authority is doing very high value miniature sheets. They first started with Sultan's 50th Birthday when they issue a miniature sheet with five $50 stamp and sold that for $250. This particular $60 was actually sold for $215 by the Post Authority and not $60...

Thank you very much for your reply. I thought we might expect another high value miniature sheet for the Independence anniversary but it is so difficult to obtain information about Brunei new issues here in the UK that it usually takes me several months to discover a new issue has been made. The series of high valued miniature sheets is very interesting if very expensive for collectors. Your Blog is beautifully presented and a great pleasure to look at and read. I shall look at it regularly to see what news you have about previous Brunei stamps and any new items that are poduced. Graham.
